World famous brand Proctor and gamble CO. have been at the top spot for selling diversified nature of home-based products for consumers. One of the prominent products of this group was Natura products. Since the product launch, it gained the trust of a lot of pet lovers. Recently, the product has been again on the news, because of the company has voluntarily recalled some individual lots of Natura dry pet/dog food. The company also stated that they are suspecting that this dry pet food has the potential of being contaminated with salmonella.
Along with these voluntarily recalling, the company also stated that until now, no report of salmonella contamination has been obtained from the consumers.
The contamination has been proved by the Agriculture sector of Michigan, responsible for testing the food grade. The company said that the products that were caught with salmonella contamination were collected from a single production branch of Natura group. The products were ordered and produced for two weeks of December, 2012 at that particular wing. Michigan Department of Agriculture collected the pet food sample from a local retailer shop and saw the contamination possibilities available in the pet food. As soon as they got the contamination, they notified it to Proctor and Gamble CO. and as a precautionary step, the company has recalled some of its lots of Natura dog food which were made during this part of the time.
The products, which are made, during this time, were sold in different veterinary clinics and also through online stores. The products were sold among different countries like U.S.A, Hong Kong, Costa Rica, Canada, Korea, Japan, Malaysia etc. The expiry dates of such products are from 17 December of 2013 to 2nd January of 2014. The products were distributed from December of 2012 to the first half of March 2013. The company has requested to both consumers and buyers to abandon such products or send it back to the authorized company. The Proctor and gamble CO. Company, sole producer of Natura dog food are willingly refunding the cost of the products bought during this time.
The consumers are requested not to take this recalling statement lightly. It is because; the problem Salmonella can easily hit the pets that will dissolve these products. Also, human can get the contamination, especially if they do not carefully wash their hand after being in close contact with this product. Also, surface exposure of this product can cause contamination of salmonella virus to human and their pets. Pets that are affected by this disease can show a different side effects like being slow or lethargic tendency, Vomiting, diarrhea, fever, decreased appetite, abdominal pets etc. those pets, which are not, directly affected by this disease may become the carrier of this disease and also it can infect other animals.
